Day 6: Polyphasic Sleeping

Tuesday:

•12 AM – used louder alarms, worked well to wake me up.  I woke up seeming surprised they were going off…thinking for some reason they shouldn’t be.  I am still used to sleeping longer at night…  After the nap I never got up, just grabbed my laptop and started surfing the web…  Without getting up or getting food, I am thinking noticeably slower than usual, however I overall feel quite good.  After getting up and eating, thinking was more normal, and I had plenty of energy to do some cleaning and listen to music.

4 AM Nap – Woke up but felt very tired afterwards.  Kind of laid around for the next 40 minutes, falling into sleep once or twice very lightly but coming back out of it because I had numerous alarms set to prevent me from doing so.  The interesting part is how I don’t feel horribly tired as if I absolutely need to sleep.  I feel more as if it would be just a wonderful idea to sleep (I write wonderful because the decision to do so just seems as if it is an obvious best choice at the time – the body and mind seem to have a remarkable ability to convince you other than what you had previously planned).

7 AM Nap – Woke up before my alarm, feeling slightly tired.  Decided to sleep the next 8 minutes until the alarm.  Rechecked to make sure the alarm would work to make sure I didn’t oversleep.  After waking up, I found that almost immediately I had no trouble reading and writing online, quite surprisingly.  I took a look again at Steve Pavlina’s blog again to compare his experiences to mine – and I have found that while some things are the same, a lot has been quite different too.

12:30 PM Nap – felt great afterward

My next nap was not until 7:30, whereupon I slept about 2 hours, probably making up for missing my afternoon nap.  Felt like it was early morning when I woke up, surprised to wake up and find out it was only just before 10!
